These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of aussietradesdirectory.com.au (“the directory”, “the service”), a service operated under Greenhost (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the directory, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, listing a business, submitting a review or otherwise using the directory, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy.

2. Who can use the directory

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the directory.
  • To list a business as a tradie, you must be the business owner or have express authority from the business owner to represent the business on their behalf.
  • You must not be barred from using the service under the laws of Australia or any other applicable jurisdiction.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for the information you provide at sign-up and for keeping it accurate and up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity on your account.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, or that are inactive for an extended period.
  • You can close your account at any time from the dashboard. Closure is immediate and non-reversible.

4. Tradie listings

4.1 Accuracy

You must ensure that every detail in your listing is accurate, current and not misleading — including business name, trade categories, service areas, licence numbers, ABN, insurance status, contact details and hourly rates.

4.2 Verification

We may verify credentials you submit (such as ABN or licence numbers) against public registers. Verification status displayed on your listing is an indication of the check we performed at the time. It is not a continuing warranty, endorsement or guarantee of your workmanship, conduct or suitability for any job.

4.3 Review queue

Listings are placed in a moderation queue before publication. We may decline to publish or may remove any listing at our reasonable discretion.

4.4 One business, one listing

Each business should have a single listing. Duplicate listings, listings for the same business under different names, or listings that impersonate another business are prohibited.

5. Reviews

  • Reviews must be based on a genuine first-hand experience with the tradie.
  • Reviews must not be false, misleading, defamatory, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit or otherwise unlawful.
  • Tradies and their employees, family members, or competitors must not write reviews of themselves or their competitors.
  • We do not accept paid, incentivised or solicited reviews.
  • Approved reviews are displayed publicly. You grant us the licence described in section 7.
  • We may remove reviews that breach these Terms, without prior notice.

6. Acceptable use

When using the directory, you must not:

  • Breach any law, regulation or third-party right;
  • Submit false or misleading information;
  • Impersonate any person, entity or affiliation;
  • Use the directory to send unsolicited commercial messages, spam, or harassing communications;
  • Scrape, crawl or harvest the directory for personal information or bulk data without written permission;
  • Circumvent, disable or interfere with security-related features;
  • Use the directory to distribute malware, phishing links or other harmful content;
  • Upload content you do not own or have the right to publish;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the service.

7. Your content and our licence

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the directory, including business descriptions, logos, cover images, portfolio photos and reviews (“Your Content”).

By submitting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, reproduce, modify, adapt, display, distribute and otherwise use Your Content for the purposes of operating, promoting and improving the directory. This licence ends when you remove Your Content, except that we may retain reasonable archival copies and may continue to display approved reviews in the form agreed.

You represent and warrant that you own, or have the rights to grant, the licence above, and that Your Content does not infringe any third-party rights.

8. Our role is limited to the directory

The directory is a listings and discovery service. We are not a party to any agreement or transaction between a tradie and a customer. We do not:

  • Perform, supervise or guarantee any trade work;
  • Act as an employer or contractor of any tradie listed on the directory;
  • Collect payment for jobs or take a commission on work done;
  • Hold funds in escrow or mediate disputes between tradies and customers.

Any agreement for services is entered into directly between the customer and the tradie. You must satisfy yourself about the suitability of any counterparty before you engage them.

9. Moderation and enforcement

We may, at our reasonable discretion and without prior notice, remove or edit content, suspend or close accounts, refuse service, or take legal action where we believe a breach of these Terms has occurred. We are not obliged to monitor content but may do so.

10. Fees and pricing

Current listing fees and any paid upgrades are described on our Pricing page. We may change fees from time to time. Paid features are non-refundable unless required by the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

11. Our intellectual property

Except for Your Content and third-party trade marks and content used with permission, all intellectual property in the directory (including design, text, code, logos and trade marks) is owned by or licensed to us. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the directory is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no express or implied representations or warranties about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, fitness for purpose, timeliness, non-infringement, merchantability or availability of the directory or any content on it.

We do not warrant the skill, quality, licensing, insurance, honesty or financial standing of any tradie listed on the directory. Verification badges reflect checks performed at a point in time and do not constitute an endorsement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be lawfully excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the directory or these Terms is limited, at our option, to either (a) re-supplying the service or (b) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which may be nil).

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, punitive or exemplary damages, loss of profits, loss of business, loss of data, or loss of goodwill, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us, our affiliates and our personnel against any claim, loss, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your breach of these Terms;
  • Your breach of any law or third-party right;
  • Your Content;
  • Any agreement you enter into with, or any work performed for, a customer or tradie you met through the directory.

15. Termination

These Terms apply for as long as you use the directory. We may suspend or close your account or stop providing the service to you at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or if continued provision of the service would expose us to unreasonable risk. You can close your account at any time from your dashboard. Sections that by their nature are intended to survive termination will do so.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page. We will notify you of material changes by email and/or by a notice on the directory. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction. If any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder will continue in force.

18. How to contact us
